Pas Yisroel in Vaad-Certified Establishments — Aseres Yemei Teshuva 5787

The Vaad HaRabbonim of Raritan Valley has issued its Erev Rosh Hashana 5787 guide to Pas Yisroel in Vaad-certified establishments. Many individuals are stringent during the Aseres Y’mei HaTeshuvah to eat only Pas Yisroel, as recommended by the Shulchan Oruch (O.C. 603:1). The following is a summary of the status of items in the stores under the Vaad’s supervision, so that customers can make an informed choice: 1. Bridge — All baked items excluding the tortillas are Pas Yisroel. 2. China Lee — Hot dog and hamburger buns, Moo-Shu wraps (pancakes), and fortune cookies are not Pas Yisroel. Crispy chow mein noodles and spring rolls are acceptable. 3. Crunch Café — The pizza, sandwiches and croutons are not Pas Yisroel. The croissants, cookies, cakes and pastries are all Pas Yisroel. 4. Dairy Deluxe — The regular ice cream cones and cookies (whole and crushed) are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones and waffle cones are acceptable. 5. Dunkin’ Donuts — The bagels, croissants, waffles, muffins, tortillas, sourdough bread, cookies and cakes are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones and doughnuts are acceptable. 6. Giddy’s Pizza and Café — All baked items are Pas Yisroel. 7. Glatt 27 — All bread items from the deli counter, all bread, cakes and pastries in the bakery section and all frozen pizza are Pas Yisroel. However, there are several packaged items that are not Pas Yisroel. The general rule is that factory packaged items that are Pas Yisroel will be labeled as such. 8. Grill House — The challah rolls, bread, pitas, baguettes, smash burger buns, pastries, cigars, kibbeh, cakes, cookies and croutons are all Pas Yisroel. Hot dog buns, slider buns, wraps and pretzel chicken are not Pas Yisroel. Items made with breadcrumbs are acceptable. 9. Jerusalem Pizza — All items baked in the store, subs, pitas, knishes, items made with breadcrumbs and croutons are Pas Yisroel. Burger buns are not Pas Yisroel. 10. Rollin Sushi — There are no items of concern. 11. Mordy’s Bakery — All baked items in the entire store (both bakery and café) are Pas Yisroel. 12. Rita’s Ices — The regular ice cream cones, hot pretzels and cookies (whole and crushed) are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones and waffle cones are acceptable.
